Follow scenic Ocean Drive and you’ll find the historic Castle Hill Inn overlooking Narragansett Bay. Back in 1875, Alexander Agassiz of Harvard University, in need of a summer cottage chose this beautiful and then-private beach. Today his summer getaway has been transformed into a world class inn, welcoming travelers from around the world and housing a Forbes 4-star restaurant, The Dining Room.Brunch here isn’t just some typical buffet line or ordering from a limited brunch menu. The Dining Room’s brunch includes their full regular menu. This worked perfectly for my family, especially since it was our first time dining here.

I chose the lobster roll composed of Maine lobster, tarragon crème fraiche, and then topped with onion strings. Their generous portion of sweet lobster tossed in all the right ingredients made for one of the best lobster rolls ever.

After enjoying our delicious brunch entrees, we ventured outside to The Lawn. White Adirondack chairs dot the rolling grassy hill landscape. We find seats overlooking the bay to watch sailboats gently pass by. Being a bit foggy, the weather conditions didn’t allow us the usual commanding view of Narragansett Bay. However, we did enjoy the warm summer air and the ambiance of this quintessential Newport iconic destination.

Throughout our visit, their superb staff proved to be of the finest caliber, providing us the finest of service. Every member we encountered held us in the highest regard and carried out their work with a genuine smile.

With the spectacular location, delicious fare, and superior service, I will definitely return the next time the road takes me to beautiful Newport.
