If the two of you are looking for a get away and some much-needed time together, then head to the coast to The Sunset Inn on Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Just over three hours away from Charlotte, this charming inn will give you what you need. There you will find the perfect spot for some together time on a pristine and unspoiled beach.
Opened in June 2000, the Sunset Inn quickly established itself as a premier Sunset Beach destination. This beautiful inn is located alongside the Intracoastal Waterway and provides some stunning views. Their reputation for outstanding service is well earned and continues to charm guest after guest.
Each of the 14 guest rooms are decorated differently, but do share a common beach-inspired decor. No matter the room you’re given, there is no need to worry about space. All have plenty of room for the king-size bed, wet bar, and love seat. In addition, each have air conditioning – plus free Wi-Fi, cable, and TVs with DVD players. On the ground level, there are individual storage rooms to place beach chairs, floats, bikes, etc. Your room key will fit the appropriately marked door.
We stayed in Old Baldy Grand Room, which is named after Bald Head Island’s famous lighthouse, which is located a bit north of Sunset Beach. This guest room is a large corner room with an ode to the Old Baldy Lighthouse made up of books and memorabilia of the famous landmark as part as the décor.
In every guest room, the best feature is a private screened porch with rockers. Here is where we escaped to take in the beautiful view of the marshes along the Intracoastal Waterway. On my last visit, I was unable to take in a sunset from our corner porch, because we were always out to a late dinner, but I’m sure they were spectacular.
Every morning you wake up to a delicious continental Southern breakfast served buffet style in their sunny breakfast room. Every buffet comes with a hot entrée along with a variety of breads, pastries, cereal, yogurt, granola, fruit, and boiled eggs. Freshly brewed coffee and an assortment of hot tea selections are available. You are welcome to eat in their breakfast room or take back to your private porch for your morning indulgence.
The beauty and magic of the beach is what lures many to North Carolina’s treasured coast. Purposely limited development and a community dedicated to preserving their island, the natural beauty of Sunset Beach is found in every direction. From the inn, take the five-minute walk to enjoy the solitude of the ocean’s call. You could be out there for hours, so take some supplies to keep you where you want to be on the ocean’s front doorstep.
From nice accommodations to beautiful scenery to the ideal location, Sunset Inn pleased us in every way. The Sunset Inn is the perfect place to hit the reset button with your significant other.
